Join Us For Women’s March Activities
Here at CraftJam we believe in equality and in freedom of speech. That is why we are taking part in Women’s March activities this weekend, and we invite you to join us. Whether you will be marching in New York or Washington DC (or any place else), come make signs, knit pink hats or even catch a ride to DC with us!
Crafting for equality
Crafting as a pastime has always been known to bring people together. The original “Old Glory” was sewn by a group of women in Salem Massachusetts in 1824, measuring 17-feet by 10-feet it was a great way to coin the term we now use for our American flag.
Now women everywhere are assembling “for the protection of our rights, our safety, our health, and our families – recognizing that our vibrant and diverse communities are the strength of our country.” (Women’s March mission statement) What better reason for crafters to get involved?
Kat Coyle from The Pussyhat Project has shared her pattern for the cutest pink beanie to be worn in Women’s March on DC or any of your own local marches.
Want to knit you own pink Pussyhat? Or need a sign to carry? Join us and our awesome co-working office Knotel this Friday for our March Kickoff event to connect with fellow marchers over some warm drinks, snacks, sign-making and knitting. We will be teaching basic knitting so you can make your own pink beanie. Whether you plan to make the trip to D.C. or to participate locally, we hope we can help you prepare to take on this important march.
Looking for a ride to DC? Knotel has a bus going! Bus leaves Friday afternoon January 20th from Knotel Bryant (22 W 38th St) at 3pm and returns Sunday afternoon January 22nd. Cost is under $100 per person round trip, friends welcome. Space is first come first serve, so RSVP today!
